New shop with over 25 years of experience.
Duncan is half way between Victoria and Nanaimo, and I have clientele who are happy to make the trip from both cities.
There’s great visibility as we are on the Trans Canada Highway, and in a strip mall with a popular sushi spot, vet clinic, liquor store, and thrift store.
There’s a university campus a couple blocks away, tons of apartments being built in the area, and several motels nearby.
We’ve been open for just over a year now. We’re the only shop in the area that has flash on the walls and consistently does walkins.
We get a fair bit of walkin traffic, but it ebbs and flows, so it hasn’t been built up enough to the point where you could count on it to make a healthy living. But it’s there, and it’s not bad.
We charge by the piece for flash, and I do offer my clients pretty good deal on session rates. The work load is probably about 35-40% flash, and the rest is custom.
If you are relatively quick at tattooing, you could do very well off the flash.
I offer either rent or percentage for guests and permanent artists.
There’s a drawing table in the storage room, a library full of reference and art books. A fridge, microwave, and air fryer in a private area.
